Every year in the first week of October, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) is dedicated to raising mental illness awareness across the United States.
The goal is to help break the stigma surrounding mental illness across the country and make support and treatment more available to those who are in need.
Only through public awareness, education and assistance can the issue of scarce mental health assistance be brought to the world’s attention.
Millions of American’s suffer from mental illness but never receive the treatment they need to get back their lives and their feeling of normalcy.
Mental illness should be made a public concern all year long, but this week was created in the hopes of helping people connect and get help now and make others more aware.
